Dr. John M. Rabins, Ph.D., O.D. is a graduate of the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. A retired Air Force colonel, he spent much of his career in Colorado Springs, having served tours of duty at the Air Force Academy, Peterson AFB, and Cheyenne Mountain. Having done a pediatric rotation during optometry school, Dr. Rabins enjoys working with children and families. In his spare time he loves hiking in Colorado’s mountains with his Gordon Setter Obee.
Dr. Gail Saxerud is a Colorado native. She graduated with honors from Pacific University College of Optometry in 1996. She has enjoyed specializing in primary care optometry, understanding that a quality eye exam is the foundation for visual comfort in today's technology-filled world. She particularly enjoys the challenges that Colorado presents, including the diagnosis and treatment of dry eyes, as well as fitting contact lenses in this dry climate. Dr. Saxerud lives in Colorado Springs with her optometrist husband and their two children. As a family they enjoy camping, hiking, and attending live music together.
Dr. Amber Weimer, our newest doctor, is a welcome addition to our staff. She has been practicing in Colorado since 2019 and enjoys primary car optometry, contact lens fitting, and managing ocular disease. Born and raised in Alaska, Dr. Weimer has a passion for the outdoors, participating in mountain climbing, ultramarathons, and rock climbing with her husband Mario.
Susan became the OPTOM~EYES practice manager after moving to Colorado Springs from Denver to be closer to her grandkids. She comes loaded with experience, having managed large chain opticals as well as small private practices. She loves the interpersonal relationships afforded in a small office, and delights in attending to the individual needs of our patients. She also keeps up with fashion trends in popular eyewear.
Erik is a jack-of-all-trades in the office, including data entry, insurance billing, computer liaison, and bookkeeping. He has lived in the Colorado Springs area for about six years and joined Optom~
Eyes two years ago. He is an obsessed Nascar fan and enjoys spending time with his 4 children and 12 grandchildren.
You may recognize Christy as the same friendly smile at our front desk several years ago. We’re glad she’s back in that role, having the rare ability to manage a myriad of tasks simultaneously. She’s been married for over 25 years, 18 of those in Colorado, and has four children. She enjoys antique shopping with her daughter and jeeping with her husband and boys.
Cindy is our billing, coding, and insurance specialist. She has several years of experience working for optometrists. Cindy stays current with ongoing changes in insurance coverage and benefits, and OPTOM~EYES accepts most major insurance plans. She can answer all your billing and insurance questions. Cindy enjoys spending her free time with her husband Steve and their three children.
Taylor is one of our opticians and has been in the optical field for two years. She moved to Colorado from Arizona with her mom in 2016. She enjoys playing video/computer games and loves “everything Disney.”
